We are proud to announce that Downing Students has achieved a major milestone at this year’s Newcastle Rate Your Landlord Awards 2026, taking home Best for Repairs and being named Runner Up for PBSA Provider.
The awards celebrate the very best student housing providers across the city, with winners determined by student feedback. That makes this recognition especially meaningful to us, it reflects the real experiences of the students who live with us every day.
Winning Best for Repairs marks the first time we have received formal external recognition for our maintenance service. It is a moment that means a great deal to our team. High-quality, responsive repairs are fundamental to the student experience. When issues arise, students need to know they will be dealt with quickly and professionally. This award demonstrates that the service delivered on site is not only meeting expectations, but exceeding them.
Our teams dedication has clearly made a measurable impact. Recognition of this nature does not happen by chance, it reflects strong processes, accountability, teamwork and pride in standards. We see first-hand the care and commitment our maintenance and site teams bring to their roles, and it is incredibly rewarding to see that effort recognised.
Alongside this win, we were also named Runner Up for PBSA Provider across our two Newcastle properties, further reinforcing the strength and consistency of our operation in the city. To be recognised across multiple categories highlights the collaborative effort of our teams and the quality of the overall student experience we provide.
The awards recognise the hard work delivered at both Verde and The View, our purpose-built student accommodation schemes in the heart of Newcastle. Located close to Newcastle University and Newcastle Business School, both properties combine central locations with modern studios and shared apartments, alongside thoughtfully designed communal spaces that help foster a strong sense of community.
