We have an exciting opportunity available for a Management Accountant to join our busy finance team based at our Head Office in Liverpool City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving business. The main purpose of the role is to be the lead accountant on a number of entities within the Downing business, covering all aspects of reporting and financial management.

Downing are a family-owned, award-winning leading developer, owner, and operator of bespoke, luxury student accommodation, residential and commercial properties across the UK. We have been operating for over 35 years and currently have 14 operational student accommodation schemes in 10 major cities, with an impressive £1.6bn worth of developments in the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of quarter end financial statements.
• Compilation of the quarter end management accounts pack.
• Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Analysing company performance and Variance analysis.
• Dealing with recharges across the business.
• Overseeing the entities’ credit control, cash, and review of bookkeeping entries.
• Assisting with management information reporting.
• VAT/CIS returns.
• Providing external auditors with information and handling queries.
• Involvement with student income procedures with our letting systems.

Key Requirements:

• Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to work using your own initiative and manage your own time effectively.
• High level of attention to detail.
• A strong technical and practical working knowledge of management accounts.
• First class communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional qualification ideal but not essential.
