The inaugural Variety North West PROPs Awards, supported by Downing, took place on 30th November to celebrate the outstanding achievements of property professionals and organisations in the region.
The event raised over £200,000 for the children’s charity Variety, with over 400 guests in attendance. The Variety North West PROPs awards celebrated the property industry with the mission of funding more wheelchairs, Sunshine Coaches, days out and specialist equipment for disadvantaged children in the North West.
Alongside other senior property figures from Kroll, Landmark Group, Landwood Group and Network Space, Downing’s Chairman George Downing was one of board members behind the event to raise funds for Variety.
“I am blown away by the donations, this incredible amount of support will go a long way in ensuring we can continue to help fund more specialist equipment for disadvantaged children in the area.
“On the night, we also had two amazing donations from Downing and Home Bargains to fund two Sunshine Coaches. We could not have asked for more from our first North West Props Awards event.”

Development Director for Variety
“Some of our greatest personalities, leaders, innovators and disruptors within the property industry have come from disadvantaged backgrounds. For a truly inclusive society, we must support and empower perspectives from disadvantaged backgrounds to shape the future of the property industry. This is why it is important to support charities like Variety to try and balance the playing field and break down those barriers for disadvantaged children as they forge their own path through life.
“We are really grateful to all those that nominated, donated, attended or supported the event. It has been a really rewarding project and the whole team cannot wait to see some of the good that will come of the money!”
