The heritage building restoration works of the Port of Liverpool Building included the clean and repair of the external Portland stonework and internal marble cladding, re-glazing of the central dome, exposing and repairing original ceiling soffits including decorative cornices and columns as well as restoring original terrazzo flooring, and repairing stained glass windows.
It also included installation of additional contemporary lighting to further enhance the building and its features, a new exterior lighting scheme to enhance the city’s lighting strategy, overhaul of M&E systems, including emergency lighting and new wireless Fire Detection System and the renewal of four passenger and goods lifts.
The introduction of raised access floors to meet the demands of the modern office and an extensive decoration scheme throughout were also part of the restoration works.
